Cottage Engagement Session in Muskoka – Callen & MeganCottage Engagement Session in MuskokaWhen Callen & Megan told me they wanted to do a cottage engagement session at his family’s property in Muskoka, I was all for it. Seeing this part of a couples lives really makes my heart happy. A little backstory for me first. Growing up we had a cottage in my family for 49 years. It was such a huge part of my life and every year once school was done, we went off with the grandparents to spend the whole summer up there. It was my haven, my home and such a huge part of me. We unfortunately had to sell it almost 10 years ago now and I still think about it almost every day.Getting up to Callen & Megan’s cottage was incredibly nostalgic for me. The smell of the gas from the boat, the sound of the waves and looking at all the collected knickknacks in the cottage really brought me back. Even the door handle to the bathroom made me think about my cottage too. I was in absolutely heaven during their engagement session as I captured them in their favourite spot. Showing me around the property we found little gem spots to capture them enjoying nature together. Having their pups up there too, they came to join in the splashes in the lake. Adventuring together at the cottageWhen you’re photographed by me, I am always down to capture an adventure or experience, especially if I can do it from a kayak! As the sunlight hit perfectly over the horizon, we were on the water as I captured them paddle boarding together. As we crossed the narrows of the lake, we got to a huge cliff. These two climbed to the top and jumped off it not once, but twice for me! Such good sports so I could capture the shot. Watersports can definitely leave you with a craving for a fire, so when we got back we got one up! I love making fires so I jumped at the chance to make this one picture perfect. Cozying up to the fire is a longtime favourite activity at any cottage and we finished up the session all getting warm by it. Being the kind souls they are, Callen fired up the BBQ for steaks and we had a lovely dinner together. Taking the boat ride back to the dock at night in pure darkness allowed us to all be swallowed up by the sky and the beautiful stars. A forever memory for me, this was an absolutely heart warming and incredible cottage engagement session.Looking for some tips for your engagement session?
